Calcium channel subunit alpha-1A RNA is exclusively seen across the brain, with predominant expression in the cerebellum. In mouse, transcriptomic databases agree on moderate but widespread distribution throughout the brain.
Regarding the current slides, strong intensity immunostaining of axonal networks is noticed in throughout the entire forebrain gray-and white matters. This pattern is rather restricted to a few gray matter areas in the brainstem, like to the periaqueductal gray matter or around the fourth ventricle in the medulla, including the locus coeruleus - pericoerulear region.
In addition, moderate-intensity immunostaining of neuronal cell bodies is noticed in the olfactory bulb (mitral cells), in the lateral septum as well as in sparse neurons throughout the cortex.
